Coris Sonomanma “Russian Roulette” Bubble Gum – Ramune

Posted in Lifestyle

Hello!   This post could have been up sooner if I had managed to find the correct name for it in time!  Anyroad, the star of the show today is the rather unusual Coris Sonomanma “Russian Roulette” Bubble Gum in Ramune flavour.

$0.99 – OyatsuCafe

“A totally unique invention and great fun to play with your friends! Each pack contains three pieces of Ramune Soda chewing gum. Two have a sweet and delicious liquid center and one piece is insanely sour.”

I received this trio of bubblegums in my Halloween Kawaii Pack.  I put off opening them for ages as I only had the one packet to try – what if I wasted it?  After I received a few more varieties in my Oyatsu-rprise, I felt brave enough to finally give this flavour a go.

#1 – #2 – #3

Look at these bubblegums.  Which one do you think is the sour one?

You’re not even going to guess are you?  You’re just going to carry on reading.

Fair enough. *shrugs*

It seems I got the sour one straight away…. it was #1!  #2 and #3 were the normal ones.  This does change though; I have tried other varieties and each time the sour piece has been different.  It hasn’t always been #1, or else that would be boring!

The bubblegums were soft and chewy, and they reminded me of pinball gumballs.  Just in case you are new around here, ramune flavour is what I would describe as being a cross between bubblegum and lemonade.

With regards to the sour one, it was sour, but not as much as I thought it would be.  I was expecting something so sour it would make me cry and beg for mercy.   The taste did not last for as long as I thought it would either.   Whether someone else would find these super sour is up for debate.     If you are sensitive, I would try with caution. I don’t consider myself sensitive to sourness, so I’m hesitant to dismiss them as not being sour.  There is always the risk someone will sue me when their jaw has disintegrated…

I can imagine this being fun to play with a group of friends.  There would definitely be a lot more suspense when it came to the reveal of which one was the sour sweet.  It wasn’t the same trying them on my own *sniff*.  As soon as I had realised I had already tried the sour sweet, it was a little deflating. I’m sure the creative people here would be able to come up with a party game or two.

I like these sweets, and I think I would buy them again in the future.  I’m interested to see how they would make the strawberry milk flavour taste sour!

Would you every try the “Russian Roulette” sweet?
