Today’s post is about some candy that took me by surprise…. in a good way! Let me tell you about the weird and wonderful Puccho Awawawa Ball Candies in Grape.
Puccho Awawawa Ball Candies – Grape
I initially received a bag of Puccho Awawawa Ball Candy in a parcel swap with Nicole , and if by magic, a few months later another bag popped up in an OyatsuBox . Apparently , “Awawawa” is the noise that people make when they try them.
Awawa Ball Candies boast three layers; a fizzy, sour outer layer, a grape flavour middle layer (that is similar to a boiled sweet), and a chewy centre. What a mixture of sensations.
Be warned, the Puccho Awawa Ball Candies fizz in the mouth almost instantly and continue to do so for about a minute (yes, I timed it!). It’s such a strange, yet addictive sensation ! The fizzy outer layer has a sour grape taste too, which I actually enjoyed. It is so weird… but I like it. This is my favourite part of the candy.
Once the fizzy outer layer wears away you get the second layer, a hard candy. This has a grape taste, but it isn’t as strong as the first layer. To be honest, it’s nothing special; it’s just there to protect the chewy centre.
And then, once that layer wears away, you get the chewy centre . This is my least favourite of the candy overall as it rather annoyingly sticks to my teeth, and it can be quite painful to prise out of my molars. If you have nice teeth that haven’t been decimated by too much candy, you just might be ok.
Whilst these candies didn’t make me go “ Awawawa ” ( which was quite disappointing!) I still really like these candies. They’re just so addictive, and most importantly, enjoyable . I’ve never known a sweet like it!
My only complaint is that there was a sachet of silica gel in the packet. If you have ever bought a brand new pair of shoes, and you never know what to do with the small sachet that tells you not to open it or eat, well it’s one of those! What is one of them doing in my sweets?! Well, according to everyone’s best pal Google, it prevents moisture forming in the bag and keeps them fresher for longer. Hmm, I suppose that is ok then! Perhaps check the packet before tucking in…
I would definitely buy these again , and I already have. I’ve ordered some of the ramune variety, and I cannot wait for them to arrive. I would definitely recommend the Puccho Awawa Ball Candies as a gift for a friend or a loved one too, as they’re just so unusual and unlike anything I’ve ever tried.
Would you ever try the Puccho Awawawa Ball Candies?
