Oh, how I wish Pocky – Midi was more available in our UK stores… *sighs wistfully* We are missing out, big time. To continue my campaign of raising awareness of Pocky Midi , let me tell you about the latest variety I tried, Pocky Midi – Caramel Latte .
Pocky Midi – Caramel Latte
After trying, and loving, Pocky Midi – Strawberry , I could not wait to try a new flavour. As if by magic , I received the Pocky Midi – Caramel Latte in my OyatsuBox ( where else? ) and I quickly bumped it up my “ to review ” list ( aka the “to munch” list) .
This particular variety features Gudetama , everyone’s favourite apathetic egg, on the packaging. I think there had been a promotion or competition of some sort to win some Gudetama prizes, although I think the time to enter has now elapsed. I highly doubt I would have been able to enter anyway…
Pocky Midi may be smaller than usual Pocky, but what they lack in size they make up for in the creamy coating. Pocky Midi has twice the amount of coating; this particular variety boasts two layers of caramel latte flavoured chocolate, coating a chocolate cookie stick.
It comes in three clear packets, each containing four sticks. I appreciate this immensely as it means no more overeating which is often the case with normal Pocky. Once that foil packet has been opened, I have to eat them all… With Pocky Midi, I can have one packet, and save one for later. *proud face*
I was hesitant to try the Pocky Midi – Caramel Latte variety at first, as I had visions of a strong, coffee tasting snack. However, I am pleased to report that the caramel latte coating is more on the milky, sweet side, and the coffee taste is barely noticeable. The creamy coating is so thick , it can be bitten off the cookie stick like corn on the cob… not that I eat that *shudders*
Again , the cookie stick has a bit more of a chocolate flavour compared to the usual, standard Pocky sticks , but not so much that it overtakes the caramel latte flavour. In fact, it compliments the sweet, milky taste, as it adds a contrasting “sharp ” taste.
Whilst I enjoyed the Caramel Latte variety, I probably wouldn’t buy them again . They haven’t quite captured my heart in the same way the Strawberry variety did. However, I am definitely going to try more Midi varieties; I just can’t get enough of that extra layer of coating. It’s so good! How will I ever be able to eat normal Pocky again?!
What’s your favourite Pocky variety?
