An Oyatsu-rprise!

Hello! I’m slowly working my way through my massive backlog of draft posts – I’m always thinking of things that I can tell you about, it’s just putting fingers to keyboard that I struggle with!  Last year, the lovely folk at OyatsuCafe offered to send me “some stuff” (their words, not mine!) as a thank you for chatting about them on my blog.  I expected a few items included in my regular OyatsuBox …. but instead I received practically a second OyatsuBox!  Let’s dive in…

An Oyatsurprise - Famous in Japan

I managed to fit it all in one picture – phew!

I received two bags of Pretz, crunchy biscuits sticks with a texture similar to pretzels (geddit?).  The yellow bag is Mikan flavour, and the green bag is  Matcha .  I think this will be an interesting combination of tastes as matcha is usually bitter in taste, and (I’m guessing!) mikan will be sweet and fruity.

I also received a bag of  Yamayoshi Potato Crisps – Hokkaido Butter. I have already received a bag of these in an OyatsuBox , but having two bags won’t hurt.  In fact, it can only help my review as it means I have more to taste…. Mmm.. crisps…

Some more familiar items I recognised were the Meiji Torotto chocolates  and the three packs of Russian Roulette gum in the flavours  Grape and Peach .  Fun fact – I received a packet of Meiji Torotto in a previous OyatsuBox , and I was in the middle of trying it for a review on the blog. My dog George somehow got his nose into the packet and snaffled the remaining pieces. I think he quite enjoyed them too.  I’ll have to get his official comments for my review, har har!  I have tried a packet of Russian Roulette gum before from a Kawaii Wonderland lucky bag , and I thought they were a lot of fun.

An item I thought I had received before, but I actually hadn’t (silly brain!), are Meiji Wata Pachi Gum .  This is cotton candy infused with pop rocks.  The pop rocks crackle in your mouth as the cotton candy turns into gum.  How amazing does that sound? I received a packet of the Cola flavour and the Lemon flavour.  Another item I need to prioritize on my “to try” list!

I remember seeing the Drink Candy Mix on Sami’s blog , and being very jealous I hadn’t managed to sign up to OyatsuBox in time to receive it.  I’m a sucker for packaging!  The idea behind the drink candy mix is that the sweets are the flavours of popular drinks in vending machines in Japan.   This is my favourite item of the box and I cannot wait to try them.

Finally, I received a few Kawaii Food Erasers .  They are so cute and detailed, I don’t think I can bring myself to use them!  They can be bought separately, but they are also offered as a free gift when you spend $50 on OyatsuCafe.

I want to say a big  ありがとう  to OyatsuCafe for their kind generosity – if it wasn’t for their amazing OyatsuBoxes, I’d struggle to blog!  I say it all the time, but I honestly mean it when I say that OyatsuBox is my favourite subscription I’ve ever had, and I honestly can’t see myself unsubscribing any time in the future.

I cannot wait to get stuck in… Where I do start?
