My Last Kawaii Box 2 Famous in Japan

My Last Kawaii Box!

Hello!  Today’s post is about my last Kawaii Box, but hold the tissues – it’s ok!  I’ll explain why, but let me just tell you a quick story… *ahem*

Even though I had nothing but regular and reliable service from Kawaii Box, it seems that there has been some sort of error with my account.  In January, Kawaii Box changed their service.  They state “starting from January 2015 we will begin to prepare and ship the boxes already around the 20th day of each month. Due to this change, there will also be a slight renaming of the boxes. Previously if you subscribed in January, you would have received the February box. But from now on as we start shipping them earlier, you will receive the box for the same month as you subscribed on. So simple!”  As I was subscribed well before January, it seems I received both January boxes.

What does that mean?  That means that my February box blog post is actually the second January box, and what I would have called the March box is the February box.  One of my readers received this box  when I received the second January box, and left me a comment explaining that she was disappointed; her daughter had received a different box entirely to me for that month.  However, as I now have the box that she received, I can see why she was disappointed.  Read on!

How many times did I say box in that paragraph? The word doesn’t make sense anymore!

Let’s start with my favourite items in the box once more.

I’ve already tucked into the Kracie Nerunerunerune DIY Candy Kit and taken pictures for a blog post, so keep an eye out for that in a few days!  I also received some Panda Chopsticks and a small Green Tea Kit Kat .   I’m sure the panda chopsticks will be useful for future trips to Wagamamas – I’ll have to practice!  I’ve already tried and reviewed the Green Tea Kit Kat , but I’m sure it was a nice treat for subscribers that haven’t tried a Japanese Kit Kat before.

And these are the items I wasn’t too keen on…

I received a pencil case , a diamond luggage tag , a red panda plush key ring , a glitter lollipop hair clip , a Hello Kitty eraser , a sheet of stickers , an apollo chocolate key ring , a mechanical pencil and a cube bracelet .

I feel that this is a random assortment of items, and being brutally honest , not that great compared to previous boxes.  The red panda plush tag has some sort of ink mark on his eye, and the chocolate shaped keyring has a few marks too.  I have lots of Hello Kitty erasers already so another one isn’t special.   The stickers would be more apt for Christmas, I prefer pens to pencils (especially mechanical – they snap so easily!) and the bracelet isn’t for me.  The only items I am neutral towards are the luggage tag and the pencil case.

I originally unsubscribed from Kawaii Box as a way of cutting down on my monthly expenses.   That’s all it was, just me trying to save some pennies!  (Spotify was cancelled too).  I had no problems with the service – my boxes arrived on time and I usually liked most of the items inside.   Having received this box, I’m glad that I unsubscribed in time.   As I can purchase most items (and more!) from Kawaii Box from Blippo.com at any time, I probably wouldn’t re-subscribe.

Kawaii Box costs $18.90 (about £12-13) per month with free shipping.  The box is sent via Singapore Post and you are provided with a tracking number. It will take about two weeks to arrive and there are no custom charges to pay.  You can read my previous Kawaii Box posts here.

Would you ever subscribe to Kawaii Box?

  1. What a shame your last box was disappointing! Subscription boxes are a great idea, but I’ve been subscribed to a couple and eventually cancelled them because I just ended up with so many products I wasn’t using. Even though I wouldn’t subscribe to the Kawaii boxes myself, I did enjoy reading your reviews :)
