January Goals – How Did I Do?

As well as using my blog to set myself monthly goals to keep me accountable, I also thought I should let you all know how I got on.  There’s nothing more motivating than having to be honest and tell people how you did.   Let’s all laugh at my failures together.

Blog Goals

Blog Every Day

This nearly happened.  I did blog a lot to be fair;   23 posts out of 31 days.  I could have done it, but I got ill.  It started as a headache, then a sore throat a few days later, leading to a full on cold literally the next day.  Yay.   I was in such a bad state I could barely raise my arm to press play on Netflix, never mind write 300 words of content.

I’m actually quite glad that I didn’t complete this goal as I was sacrificing a lot of things to do so.  I didn’t really have any time for me .   You should have seen the state of my room!  Whilst I can’t say this is a completed goal, I am proud of myself  for managing to blog, despite having one month off from blogging and writing entirely.  I’ve still got it.  It never left me.  (500 points if you know what that reference is from!)

Personal Goals

Read 5 books

In January, I read 8 books Shopaholic Abroad, Paper Hearts, In Order to Live, Hot Feminist, The Year of the Rat, Nothing to Envy, How Hard Can Love Be? and A Dream of Lights .  I also re-read The Perks of Being a Wallflower and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.  A completed goal – woo!

Not too bad, huh?  According to GoodReads, I’m a few books ahead of schedule for my reading challenge for the year – yay!   I love books, me.

Exercise a little bit

Whilst I managed to get out and walk a bit more this month, I didn’t specifically do any exercise.  Again, whilst I watched what I ate for the majority of the month, once the Mini Eggs came out I gave in.   I know I can do better , but I’m not going to beat myself up too much about it.   There’s always next month.

Get organised

When I stopped blogging everyday,  I realised I should start organising.  I’ll be honest, it was a goal I had completely forgot about!    I told you I didn’t have any time for me…  So, a week before February I made a start.  I filled one bin bag full of rubbish that was lurking around my room.  I moved all the clothes from my desk chair and put them where they should be.  I organised my candy stash.   I bet you are all reading this and thinkinggood Lord, what a gremlin! “.

I will carry on this goal into February as I still have a lot to do.  A half completed goal it may be, but it is better than not doing anything at all.

No books or beauty products

I’m not going to lie; I bought 3 books this month.   Ooops.  I bought How Hard Can Love Be?, Mind Your Head and a copy of Amy and Matthew from a charity shop.  In terms of beauty products, I did slip up and order a Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani lipstick only for Urban Decay to mess up my order and solely send me the free samples.  I think it was a sign that I should stick to my spending ban.   Even though at the time of writing I really want a lot of the new Maybelline releases, I will resist.   I will be strong.  I can do this.

Did you set yourself any goals last month?  How did you do?
