First of all, Happy New Year! Wow. It’s been a while hasn’t it?
Towards the end of 2015, I had a little bit of a burnout. I was trying to do everything at once ( blogging everyday, reading a book a day, writing a novel, juggling a relationship ). Of course there will come a time where you just snap. … and need a long, long break. I touched upon my feelings at the time in my “ Some Thoughts on Blogging ” post. I have to say that I am so relieved to find out that I wasn’t alone in how I was feeling, and I want to say a special thank you to Pixie , Brian , Laura , Evelyn , Megan , Amanda , Kristien , Becky , Leona and Chelsea for all your kind words and encouragement. I am feeling completely refreshed, and ready to get back into blogging but this time, on my terms.
What could be a better topic to begin blogging again than my January goals?
I wasn’t sure whether to stick to the age-old tradition of setting myself some “big” New Year Resolutions, but after a good think I decided that I would prefer to continue to set myself small goals each month. I never, ever stick to my “resolutions” for the year but I do actually stick to and achieve the small goals these past few months, so I am going to continue doing that. Rather than focusing on the year as a whole, I am going to take life one month at a time and see what happens. You know what they say, life is what happens when you are busy making other plans!
BLOG GOALS
Blog every day in January
I am once again challenging myself to blog every day. I have tried blogging every other day. I have tried blogging on set days. I just can’t do it. I need to either blog every day or not at all. Seeing as I have neglected this blog for a while, I think blogging every day is the least I could do. I’m hoping this will help me to get back into writing again as my skills have definitely declined since I had a blogging break!
PERSONAL GOALS
Do not buy any books or beauty products
I went a little crazy in December and I bought far too many books, and far, far too many lip products. I am getting back on the spending wagon once more to counter the damage to my bank balance. I am even considering doing the 100 days spending ban challenge to make the spending ban a little more interesting… watch this space!
Read 5 books
My reading challenge this year is to read 60 books , 10 more than last year’s challenge. 5 books a month will help me achieve this, easily. I have plenty of books to read thanks to my aforementioned spendathon. I counted and there are officially 46 books in my “To Be Read” pile…. at the time of writing. There may be more by the time you read this post.
Try exercise again
Funny story: when I attempted exercise last year (heehee, I can say that now!) I didn’t stretch properly after my first attempt at 30 Day Shred. I thought laying down on the floor was enough rest. For the following 4 days I couldn’t walk. Seriously. I nearly cried every time I had to walk downstairs. I desperately need to have some form of exercise in my life in 2016 as running a Japanese candy blog is not kind to the waistline, and I have a lot of candy to review these next few months.
Get a bit more organised
Right now I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the state of my bedroom and general life (ha!). I want to use January as an opportunity to start a big clean up. Donate to charity, sell on eBay or even just throw stuff away – I need to sort myself out.
Have you set yourself any goals for January?
Dannie x
Happy New Year and good luck with your goals! You’re very brave to set monthly targets – I don’t think I could do it! Xx
You can do it, girl! Hoping 2016 is the bestest and that I can see you again soon <3 xxxx
Happy new year gorgeous! I am totally with you on your goals, I must start exercising again I always exercise from january- june and then I put on loads of weight again, and the cycle completes hahah xxx
Good luck Dannie – you can do all of these I’m sure :-) I have so many things I want to do this year (watch out for a post!) and having a clear out is one of them. I threw away soooo much old and unloved makeup yesterday and it felt so good xx
