I have come to the end of my Giant Caplico stash. Here are my thoughts on my last, and most unusual (!), Giant Caplico, the Roast Sweet Potato variety.
Giant Caplico – Roast Sweet Potato
This unusually flavoured snack was a gift from Alanna in our parcel swap – thank you, Alanna! For those of you who are new around here, a Giant Caplico is an ice cream cone shaped snack, made of wafer and aerated (bubbly) chocolate . I have tried the Chocolate Bomber variety and the Panda ( i.e. Cookies and Cream ) variety and I enjoyed them both so I was half expecting to enjoy this one too.
I have to admit that as I have never tried sweet potato (although I understand that sweet potato fries in particular are held in high regard by many) I had no expectations as to the taste.
Brimming with excitement, I quickly tore open the packaging… only to feel rather dismayed when I wasn’t greeted with a noticeable scent. Scents can either make you ridiculously excited to try something, or fill you with dread. I was expecting some sort of chocolate scent but all I could detect was a faint, almost savoury scent.
Similar to the Panda variety, I didn’t have a thin layer of chocolate to break into. I could just sink my teeth into the yellow (!) chocolate straight away. Speaking of the chocolate , this chocolate had a weird taste. It’s hard to describe. It was chocolate, but it didn’t taste like typical chocolate. It didn’t have a sweet, milky taste, it had more of a bland, yet savoury edge to it that did, at a push , remind me of normal potatoes. This might be mostly psychological though. I am quite the chocoholic and I have to admit that I didn’t particularly enjoy or relish eating this part of the Giant Caplico. I was relieved to hit the the milk chocolate centre. This definitely rescued the Giant Caplico for me in term of taste. I do love how the milk chocolate literally goes all the way to the bottom of the cone. Mmm… normal chocolate!
In true Giant Caplico style , it was very messy to eat and I was quickly covered in small, yellow pieces of chocolate. At least it wasn’t the wafer causing trouble this time!
Whilst this was a satisfying snack, it hasn’t become an instant favourite. I don’t know what I was expecting, but this was very disappointing regardless. Looking on the bright side, at least I can say I have tried roast sweet potato flavoured chocolate – how many people can say that?
A serious question – do I need to try sweet potato fries? Am I missing out?

You definitely need to try sweet potato fries! They are almost as good as regular ones!
The next time I go out I will try and find some! x
Great post dear! I love it:)
