Hello!    After I finished the last of my Japanese Kit Kats , I delved back into my OyatsuBox for another item I had been longing to try – the Calpis Marshmallows .

Calpis Marshmallows - Famous in Japan

Calpis Marshmallows

$1.32 – Candysan

When I opened the packet for the first time, I was greeted with the lovely scent of sweet marshmallows.  It wasn’t overwhelming in the slightest; it was subtle and made me very excited to dig in.

The marshmallows are so soft and light; not at all like the heavy, stodgy versions we have here in England.   In terms of the taste, they taste just like a regular marshmallow.  However, what really sets these particular marshmallows apart from the others is the filling inside.  The filling is meant to be the flavour of the Calpis soda drink.  I haven’t tried the drink myself but hopefully regular readers will remember that I tried the gummy version of the drink.  After eating a few marshmallows to test this claim, I could taste the similarity between these and the Calpis Soda Gummies .  Unlike those gummies, this filling has an added sweet zing that is more enjoyable to eat.  The flavour of the Soda Gummies was more of a milky-sweet taste that got sickly – fast!

I think these have to be the best marshmallows I’ve ever tried.  These marshmallows are so addictive that I ate the entire packet in a day without even noticing.  I just couldn’t keep my mitts out of the packet!  I need to get those greedy mitts on some more.   I can see the Calpis Marshmallows haunting my dreams the same way Meiji Meltykiss chocolate does.   *sighs*

I received the Calpis Marshmallows in an OyatsuBox but sadly I cannot find them for sale on OyatsuCafe.  I am hopeful that they will be sold on there in the near future but for the time being I have included the link to the Candysan website.  I personally haven’t ordered from this website before but I think others have without complaint.

If you said they taste like Marshmallows back in the UK, I’d have said no automatically but now I’m curious x
