Well… January was a bit rubbish, wasn’t it? It seemed to go on forever, nothing exciting happened (in fact, lots of terrible things happened!) and I was ill for the back end of it. *grumbles* Moving on to something positive, here are the few beauty products that I loved in January.
MUA Eyeshadow Palette – Undressed and Urban Decay Primer Potion
Even though I have no idea what I am doing with eyeshadow, a shallow part of me really wants the Too Faced Chocolate Bons Bons palette. As I am on a beauty spending ban at the moment, I decided to use a similar eyeshadow palette from my stash to see how I got on before I bought it (if I chose to at the end of my ban). Dropping £40 on a palette that I might not even like would be incredibly silly even for me, so I have been using this MUA one as practice.
The Undressed palette has been hailed as a dupe for the Original Naked palette from Urban Decay, so I thought that it would be a good palette to start with. I regretted buying this palette at first, but over January I have grown to really like it! My personal favourites are the pinks and golds – they’re surprisingly flattering. Using this palette has actually tempted me away from the Bons Bons palette, and on to the Original Naked palette instead…
Of course, at £4 it doesn’t have the longevity of the Urban Decay formulas so I have been using the Urban Decay Primer Potion to maximise the colours and help them last a bit longer than usual. This is my favourite eyeshadow primer and it will take something special to tempt me away.
Ginvera BB Cream
Oh my, I was so lazy in January when it came to my make up routine. I could not for the life of me be bothered to faff around with primers and foundations. I blame the weather and the general “ugh” feeling of the month. After I finally sat down to write my review of the Ginvera BB cream, I was reminded of how amazing it was and I fell in love with it all over again. Forget what you know about BB creams – this gem from Singapore is a game changer. Lightweight, hydrating and with a ton of skin loving ingredients this is more skincare than make up. Go read my review *shoos you away*
Nivea Double Effects Eye Make Up Remover
As you can see, I have been wearing a lot of eye make up this month so I needed a good remover to take it all off at the end of the day. I had been using a cheap Garnier version, but I felt like it wasn’t cutting it any more. I felt that there was still residue left on my lashes, even after multiple uses. After asking on Twitter for some high street recommendations, a lot of the responses I received were for this new release from Nivea. As eye make up removers are an essential for me, I didn’t break my spending ban *wink wink*.
Even though I’ve only been using it a few weeks, I really like it. It removes eye make up so easily and quickly, but it doesn’t damage my lashes or dry the surrounding skin out. I’m definitely impressed. Nivea, you just might be getting back into my good books…
What were you loving in January?
