Forgotten Favourite: Rimmel Stay Matte

Rimmel Stay Matte

It’s time for another Forgotten Favourite! (Read my last one here).

When I was a young ‘un, I had quite the small budget for beauty items.  Whilst now my beauty hoard has filled a three drawer storage unit from Wilkinsons, back then all my make up really did fit in one bag.  Those were the days!

One thing that hasn’t changed though, is my love for Rimmel Stay Matte.  Whilst I dabble in other different brands of foundations and mascaras and lipsticks, this is the only beauty item I continue to repurchase.  At £3.99, it is cheap for the amount of product you receive.  It doesn’t give me a full coverage face instantly and I do not expect it to; instead it blots away excess shine (and I have a lorra lorra shine lately!) and helps to “set” my foundation.  I love to apply this with my ECOTOOLS Bamboo Buffing Brush (review) as the flat top is perfect for “pushing” the powder into my base as opposed to swirling it around (be warned, heavy handed-ness and over eager swirling will leave your clothes covered in powder!).  I have never experienced any irritation or breakouts because of this powder.  It doesn’t feel heavy on the skin either which means you can use it on bare skin on no make up days/good skin days.  Whenever I travel, this is always something I take as the slim design means it can be squished into any bulging make up bag (and believe me, mine is always overflowing!).

For those who suffer with particularly troublesome skin, Rimmel also do a Clear Complexion offering.  That is definitely one to pick up to try the next time I repurchase Stay Matte!

If you’re after a powder simply to set your base, give this a try.  For £3.99, what is the worst that could happen?

Out of all the powders I’ve tried, I definitely agree that this is the best one. Would you recommend a buffing brush to apply and not a normal powder brush?

This is the best budget powder I’ve ever tried – actually it’s better than a lot of high end ones I’ve tried too! x

I have used this before, I think I’ve gone through about three in my time so the last time I used mine up I looked for something new. It is a pretty good powder though and it is super affordable.

I put together a little box for my sister for Christmas full of make up things, this was one of the items.

I quite like this powder too but I never use it much. I kind of forgotten about it. Actually, I’m not even sure where it is…
Ahhh, don’t make me reminiscence the day when all my makeup was in one tiny bag.

This is the one product I repurchase time & time again. Love it, amazing for the price too. The clear complexion version feels a lot lighter.

This is a forgotten favourite for me too, it was probably the first powder I ever bought, I loved and used it for years.
