Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Mascara

Posted in Beauty

Hello!  I have noticed there has been a lack of make up reviews on here as of late so I will try my best to remedy this!  I thought I would talk about the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Mascara today after I mentioned it in my July favourites.

They say:

Bourjois’ NEW Volume 1 Seconde mascara has a unique brush with spherical bristles to wrap every lash in a 360° motion and straight bristles to create clump free definition. Apply in a zigzag motion to your top and bottom lashes for an instant eye-opening look.

I say:

This is the first mascara from Bourjois I’ve tried.  After seeing SO MANY REVIEWS of it I felt like I had to buy it and give it a go myself.  It boasts an “unique brush with spherical bristles” and I have to agree it’s definitely unique.  To me, it’s bordering on a bit of a hot mess.  Take a look.

I originally thought that the small “balls” (I nearly couldn’t type that then as I was cringing too much, gotta love society for forever tainting that word) were clumps of the formula!  There is a mixture of bristles and the other b-word but I find this a little gimmicky.  The formula is quite wet and there have been times I’ve needed to try and scrape some of it off back into the brush.  It can get quite messy…

When I first started using the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume mascara, I loved it.  I was impressed.  If I had of reviewed it after a few days of use my review would have been glowing, and that I couldn’t find a fault with it – it gave me amazing lashes and the effect lasted all day. Recently, it has began to disappoint me and I’m not sure what happened.  I find that it begins to smudge on the outer corner of my eye as well as smudging on my top lids as you can see in the picture.  I have to apply a few layers and try my best to comb it through thoroughly before I feel I am happy with how my lashes look.

I feel that this mascara gives me more length than volume, and whilst it’s not a bad mascara, it’s not my favourite.  I think if I were to repurchase it again, I’d want to try it in the waterproof variety.   I’ve had similar results to this with mascaras a fraction of the price of this so I do feel it could be better.

A bit of a mixed review I have to admit, but it hasn’t deterred me from trying Bourjois mascaras.  In fact, I think I’d be more inclined to start trying more of them now.

Have you tried the Bourjois 1 Seconde Volume Mascara?  What did you think?

Loving the look of the new layout by the way… So sad you didn’t get on with this as it’s one of my faves at the moment.
