Hello! I recently spent a few days back in my home city, and I thought that some of you may have wanted a cheeky peek into my weekend away bag. Go on, be nosey…
As the weather was verging on unbearable, I didn’t want to take a lot as I knew I wouldn’t use most of it. I think I managed to pack quite light, although the weight of my suitcase told a different story!
I took my miniature bumble and bumble surf foam wash shampoo and creme rinse conditioner because a) the bottles were small, b) I wanted to use them up and c) they wouldn’t weigh my hair down too much but they also wouldn’t dry my hair out if I washed it repeatedly. I didn’t rate this duo much when I had long hair but they seem to work well with my short hair, and encourage its natural curl.
Another miniature product I took was the LUSH Rose Jam shower gel. The small bottle meant it didn’t take up much space, and I also wanted to get it used up. Does anyone else have too many shower gels on the go?
I packed my Venus Snap razor just in case the heat reached critical levels and I had to take my tights off. It didn’t, and the tights stayed on (woohoo!). Even though I didn’t use it, it was handy to have regardless.
As I didn’t have a specific body SPF (and again there was a risk I would have to expose some limbs to the sun) , I dug out the LUSH The Sunblock from the stash. This is a solid sunscreen that you apply to wet skin in the shower and rinse off. I can’t say whether it worked or not, as I still kept my arms and legs covered, but it did make my skin feel lovely and moisturised. Sadly, my bar of this came to an untimely end when I left my suitcase in a hot car. It’s a good job I didn’t put it in my make up bag! (RIP Sunblock)
I included the bumble and bumble surf spray in my weekend bag as I had already taken the shampoo and conditioner, and I thought if anything it would make them work better. It did, and I was rocking some lovely curls all weekend. I wish it did something about the frizz though.. .
The Colab dry shampoo was one of my most used products all weekend. It really helped to give my hair a refreshing boost in between (multiple) showers. Why oh why did I get a fringe?!
I packed my bottle of Paul Mitchell Heat Seal in case I used my ghds. Whilst it was too hot to fully style my hair, I still straightened my fringe (whilst leaving my hair to go wild). It’s a good job I did take it!
The La Roche-Posay Anthelios XL Comfort Cream SPF 50+ was the product I needed the most that weekend. Thanks to this wonder product, I have no burning, no dry patches nor any new freckles even though I was in the sun during its hottest hours. I am seriously beginning to fall in love with this product!
To make sure I smelled nice-ish that weekend, I packed my small bottle of Etude House Belle Dress perfume. The fresh floral scent made a nice change from the usual sickly sweet body sprays I tend to use.
Time for make up! Of course I had to take my favourite make up bag. Isn’t it just the best?
Usually when I go away I take about 50 red lipsticks and only use about two of them. I decided that I was going to be good this time and I simply took the Bourjois Rouge Velvet in Hot Pepper . It stays on a long time and can survive through eating and drinking. It’s a nice summery shade too!
I needed the Urban Decay primer potion to combat my oily eyelids, which were a lot worse in the hot weather. I swear all the oil in my face lives in my eyelids.
I made sure that I packed my RapidLash eyelash serum as I am still testing it out for you all, and I didn’t want to forget about applying it.
I know I should have packed other make up to try this month, but I couldn’t resist including the Benefit They’re Real mascara and the Oriflame THE ONE Eyeliner Stylo in my make up bag. I knew that both products could stand the heat.
I also had to have my Benefits Brows a Go Go set , my B. eyebrow pencil and two brushes from the Real Techniques Eye Starter Set for blending in the eye primer and also to fill in my eyebrows. Eyebrows are important.
And finally I made sure I packed one of my favourite bases, the Ginvera BB Cream . It has a SPF of 30 and makes my skin look amazing , without being so heavy I want to claw my face off. Spoiler alert – I will be sharing a full review of this with you all soon…
What do you take for a weekend away? Are you a light packer, or do you need to take everything but the kitchen sink?

I’ll have to look into that solid sunblock, it’s such a clever idea, especially if you hate the stick of sunscreen like I do. Hopefully it works!
It did seem to work, it can feel a bit much in the shower though. x
Rose Jam is my favourite shower gel, and yes I am guilty of having too many different ones on the go at any one time … I hardly ever seem to finish one as I get bored near the end and just get another out! oops!
What! You should mix them all together and make a super shower gel. x
I can’t wait for your BB review, I really need something light and lovely for this clammy weather xx
It’s coming soon! I’m just so lazy..
I have way too many shower gels! And I seem to keep buying more… xx

At least it’s a product you can use up unlike lipsticks ;) xx
