Buyers remorse is a common feeling in a blogger’s world. Too often are we suckered into purchases, some of which lead to crushing disappointment . I decided to start a new series on my blog documenting my beauty purchase regrets. Today’s post is about the face products I wish I hadn’t bought .
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse & Dream Satin Liquid
Where do I even begin with these foundations… . *shakes head* They are terrible. I don’t have the Matte Mousse to photograph ( as I made sure my life was free from that oily, cakey mess in a jar! ) but I do have a bottle of the Dream Satin liquid lurking around in my beauty stash from a blogging opportunity last year.
First things first, the shade range. “It’s Ivory!” , claim Maybelline. In fact, it’s a fetching shade of orange . On the skin, it oxides badly , into an even darker shade of orange . It feels greasy on the skin , and it looks it too . Maybelline, you are owned by one of the biggest beauty companies in the world… PLEASE SORT OUT YOUR FOUNDATIONS!
Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge
Hailed as a dupe for the highly coveted Beauty Blender , I gave into the hype surrounding this orange sponge and purchased it during one rogue stroll around Boots. I didn’t quite see the results that others were having, but I perserved regardless. The sponge I originally bought actually came apart in my hands when I washed it(!), so I dismissed it as a dud and bought another. It still doesn’t work for me. Can someone give me some tips about how to use it, or should I give into the hype and buy the Beauty Blender?
Rimmel Match Perfection Blush
This was a complete impulse purchase with absolutely no research done beforehand. It looked pretty so I bought it. However, it doesn’t look as pretty on the skin. Why? It doesn’t seem to show up at all! I can only see a very sheer and subtle colour, and that is only after heavy swatching. I have used this a handful of times at most, and now I’ve given up on trying to make it work.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Instant Radiance Shimmer Touch
This was another impulse purchase . I am not too sure why I bought it in the first place. It was probably on an introductory offer. I have used it about twice. I’m not even sure how to use it, and I made a mess each time I tried. It’s like a blush and highlighter combined in a cream form, but it is thick, sparkly and is a bit too much for day time use. It has been sitting in my drawers for so long as I can’t be bothered with it.
Benefit Finding Mr Bright Set
I bought this set as I was suffering from terrible, dull skin, and I was convinced this was the answer. To give you an idea of how bad my skin was, I was practically grey. I thought this would be the cure to my skincare woes, when really all I needed was to stop drinking my body weight in Coca Cola. It is a nice set, don’t get me wrong , but it was expensive and it hasn’t been something I have reached for enough to justify the price tag.
Do you have any products you wish you hadn’t bought?

The matte mousse!!! Arg I was convinced it was the best product! Lol I actually regret buying 90% of all benefit products I purchase, but I’m too attracted to the pretty packaging to stop myself!!
Oh, Matte Mousse, I think we’ve all made that mistake. When I was a teenager, I used to switch between L’Oreal, Maybelline, and Rimmel, and ALL of them had appalling choices for pale skinned folk. Their lightest shade would be way too dark, slightly orange, and would go even more orange on the skin.
