Products I Wish I Hadn’t Bought: Eyes Edition

Buyers remorse is a common feeling in a blogger’s world.   Too often are we suckered into purchases, some of which lead to crushing disappointment .   I decided to start a new series on my blog documenting my beauty purchase regrets.  Today’s post is about the eye   products I wish I hadn’t bought .

Products I Wish I Hadn't Bought - Eyes - Famous in Japan

Miss Sporty Studio Lash Liquid Liner

During a romantic stroll in the make up aisles of Boots, I realised I hadn’t tried much from Miss Sporty.  I love finding bargain beauty items, and I thought that a liquid eyeliner would be a great first product to try from the brand.

Why, WHY do I buy these types of eyeliner?  All they do is bring back painful memories of being 12 years old and  not having a clue how to apply liquid liner.  More often than not, I rendered the white part of my eye black, giving me literally black eyes.   They also clump my eyelashes together and give me a total of 5 eyelashes on each eye, every time without fail.      I think I have used this eyeliner literally once , and then I remembered why I don’t buy these types of eyeliners anymore.   As this is the only type of eyeliner I have in my stash, it is unfortunately the one who has to bear the brunt of my frustrations in this post!

MUA Eyeshadow Palettes

Believe it or not, when I started blogging I had no idea what neutral eyeshadows were.   All that existed in my make up bag was either black or pink eyeshadow – yay for the mosher years!  I inevitably gave into the blogger hype and purchased the MUA dupes, but they have mostly sat in my draw after a few uses.  I sometimes dig them out every now and again to have a play around with, but I barely use them in my day to day life to justify buying 3 identical palettes. *facepalm*

(Cheap) Eyebrow Kits

Filling in my eyebrows is a staple of my make up routine, but I have recently realised that 99% of my eyebrow kits do not suit me.   The “dark” shade that I have been using in the kits I have ALL seem to have a red tone which looks painfully obvious, and is quite embarrassing.   The most annoying thing about eyebrow kits is that you only tend to use one shade out of 3 (or 4) and even that lasts FOREVER.  I can’t use up the kits I have as that feels impossible with the little amount you use each day, but it also feels wasteful to throw them away or buy any more kits.   Argh!

False Eyelashes

I wasn’t going to mention these until I saw those lurking in the eyebrow kit.   Why am I such a greb at times?   *hangs head in shame*   I dream of being able to rock false eyelashes but sadly it’s far from a match made in heaven.  I have tried all the tips and tricks out there , but I think I have too weird an eye shape to make them work.   I have tried a few different brands now yet to no success.   I have slowly learned to be content with my own natural lashes instead , but I still regret buying packet after packet when I knew it would end up being a waste of money.

Do you have any products you wish you hadn’t bought?

  1. You could maybe use up some of the brown eye shadows from the palettes for your eyebrows? Or is that another frowned upon blogger newb thing? I’m so bad with buying palettes and never using them – I keep telling myself I’ll wear loads and get contact lenses but yeah… Xxx

I have so many neutral palettes, that I only use about 4 shades from :P I do have that white MUA palette and use that pretty often – but I do only use 4 shades.

I regret buying most mascaras – I don’t want long, spidery eyelashes, and that’s what most of them do. The one I’m using at the moment is a Seventeen one and it’s awful. It’s so clumpy. Now Elf have returned to the UK, I can buy their mascara again.
