Hello! Look at me, bringing you a make up review! I hope you enjoy reading them; I don’t half get myself stressed out over how many make up reviews I promise to do, but just never seem to get round to doing (yes, I am aware of it!). Today’s product in the firing line is the Pixi Flawless and Poreless Primer .

I say:
When I originally received this in the post a few months ago now *guilty hoarder face* I was excited. Ooh, Pixi! That fancy brand with the tonic all the bloggers love – I bet this is really good too! Well…
I think this is a pretty average and basic primer. There, I said it. I don’t think it is worth the £20.50 price tag, at all. I think you can find similar, and even better, primers on the high street for less than this. When I first began to use this primer, I liked it. It made my skin feel smooth and most importantly, it didn’t cause any irritation to my face nor did it feel heavy unlike some primers in the past. However, the more frequently I used it, the less I began to enjoy using it.
The primer is creamy; on my dry skin it felt comfortable to apply but there were times it left my skin feeling a little “slick”, even a touch oily. I think this primer would be too heavy on oily skins and there is a possibility it could aggravate them. I wouldn’t say it is particularly hydrating or moisturising and it’s not a product that you can substitute for a moisturiser. When applying, I didn’t notice any difference in my pores nor did I notice any visible blurring of the skin or shine (which I get between my eyebrows- badly!). I didn’t notice my make up staying on any longer than usual neither. All I noticed is that it made my skin feel soft and smooth. I’m also not so sure about the “suitable for all complexions” claim. Despite being the translucent shade, this primer was a nude shade in colour with a pink tone. I would have expected the product to be clear, similar to the Maybelline Baby Skin Primer.
Yet another claim up for debate is the “skin-loving ingredients”. I’ve looked up all the ingredients as usual and the only beneficial ones are shea butter, salicylic acid and Vitamin E; the two latter ingredients being too far down the ingredient list to make a visible difference. I have been using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] as a make up primer these days as I feel I get more from using that as opposed to this; I get the smooth feeling but I also get the genuine improvements in my skin. Am I disappointed with this primer? I am. Will I be repurchasing it once it has run out? No. For £20.50. I expected a lot more.

It’s a shame that this didn’t perform as you’d expect give the price tag. An affordable primer I’ve been enjoying is The Body Shop’s Instablur and I also like using Revlon’s Bare LIghts illuminator too. I’m always on the look out for excellent primers, they can make such a big difference to the look of my make up xx

Such a shame that you didn’t get on with it! I’m trying out the Bourjois Happy Light Primer, at the moment and it seems to be a nice one, so far. Heard lots of people rave about it too!

It’s a shame as it’s pretty expensive for it not to show a lot of results, to be honest ELF primer is my favourite and dirt cheap so you don’t always get what you pay for xx
