Hello! Long term readers of my blog will know that I am a huge Paul Mitchell fangirl, so when an invite to the Ultimate Color Repair launch blogger event slided into my inbox, there was no way I was turning it down. I had previously missed out on a Paul Mitchell event when I first moved to North Yorkshire, and I remember being sat at home, seething with jealously of all the Paul Mitchell fun I was missing out on.
Being the keen bean that I am , I was the first to arrive at Quebecs Hotel in Leeds. Seriously, that hotel is beautiful. I need to stay there one day, even if it is for one night. I was soon joined by Kariss (nice to meet you!) and in we went…
Paul Mitchell Ultimate Color Repair is Paul Mitchell’s biggest launch of the year. Harnessing the power of quinoa (which I’ve only JUST learned how to pronounce correctly!), the range promises to combat the top three causes of colour fade; frequent washing, thermal styling and UV exposure.
Quinoa is rich in amino acids, which penetrate the hair and creates a protective shield against future damage. The range is designed to give hydration and protection to all hair colours (even blondes!) by locking in hair colour, restoring lustre and reversing signs of damage. Paul Mitchell are the first haircare brand to include quinoa in their products… don’t forget that!
The range includes a shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray. When tested in a study, participants noticed vibrant colour for 9 weeks, 88% less breakage and 59% more shine.
The official scent of the Ultimate Color Repair is “sea salt and coconut” and I can confirm it smells like a holiday in a bottle… mmmm.
We were also introduced to New CID Cosmetics by the MUA James. I took a seat next to Lizi (another new face, hello!), and learned about the brand. I didn’t know much about New CID Cosmetics until the event, so let me impart some of my newly acquired knowledge to ye all…
New CID Cosmetics was started 10 years ago by Kelly Coleman with her hairdresser husband Clive. They wanted to launch a makeover studio that gave supermodel results, where ladies could have their hair, nails and make up professionally applied. The New CID Cosmetics range was designed for ordinary women that they could use themselves at home without any gimmicky fashion shades or difficult to apply formulas.
New CID are mostly known for their light up lipglosses, which some of my fellow attendees were familiar with. We were also introduced to their other products such as the i-prime foundation primer . This primer boasts the ingredient ATP (adenosine tri-peptide) that encourages the skin to produce collagen, giving bounce and radiance. I tried a small amount on the back of my hand and I can confirm it left the skin on my hand feeling soft, smooth and looking noticeably brighter. *adds to shopping list*
Another cult New CID Cosmetics product that we were introduced to were the i-glow shimmer powders . These are made in Italy, and are made with four different colours. The pigments are mixed with balm and water, swirled with 4 different colours on a small terracotta stone and baked for 24 hours. They rise like cakes apparently! Mmm.. cakes…
All the i-glow shimmer powders are unique, and you will not find two with the exact same pattern. They are pigmented and buildable, with some of the shades being able to be used on the eyes, collarbones, shoulders, arms and legs. James explained that New CID Cosmetics are working on an i-glow shimmer powder suitable for pale skin tones such as mine, and he even promised that it will be named after me… I am waiting!
I was kindly given a goody bag containing miniature sizes of the shampoo, conditioner and treatment spray. As someone who went grey at 20 and does rely on hair colouring to hide that fact, I am so looking forward to giving this range a go. As it is Paul Mitchell, I know it will work amazingly. He has never let me down yet!
I was also given a rose gold hair brush from the Paul Mitchell brush range, which I am sure my fellow beauty bloggers appreciated! There’s just something about beauty bloggers and rose gold… I also received my first New CID Cosmetics product and I received a i-shine lipgloss in the shade Pina Colada. I have a feeling this will be the first product of many!
I had such an amazing evening; being reunited with my Leeds homies , meeting some new faces , and of course meeting Sarah . I will now be able to put a face to the emails which I will of course be reading in her lovely voice.
Thank you so much to Paul Mitchell for inviting me, and I shall see you at the next event!

Sounds like a good ‘un, and what a pretty hairbrush!
It is really nice to use too! x
That looks like a lovely shade of hair dye. I’m always on the look out for hair dye, just had a nose at the website and they’re cruelty free YAAY! I might pick some of that up, my hair is in need of dying soon.
Awhh, I just realised that isn’t hair dye. It looks like a box of hair dye. I got all excited thinking there was a new high street hair dye I could use.
Sounds like an amazing event! I’ll have to try some Paul Mitchell haircare, as I’ve never picked anything up from the brand before. I’m intrigued by the quinoa element; I love eating it, so maybe it’ll work wonders for my barnet too, especially if the range smells so delicious!
