Hello! You may recall the #GirlsNightIn Twitter party I took part in with BeautyAtTesco and LookGoodFeelBetter. As part of that Twitter party I was sent a few products to play with and talk about. One of them was the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara .
Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara ツ
£8.99 – Tesco Beauty
They say:
Amplify the appearance of your lashes all round with Maybelline Falsies Big Eyes mascara in Black. The double ended brush features specific brushes for upper and lower lashes to create an eye-opening effect for visible impact.
Use the push-up brush to push upper lashes upwards outwards for a volumised fan-like effect. The sculpting mini brush grabs and magnifies the look of even the tiniest of lashes to create the Big Eyes look.
I say:
I was so excited to clap my eyes on the Maybelline Big Eyes mascara in my package from Tesco as I had almost bought it just a few days before. I say it time and time again but I have such a Maybelline mascara problem – I have to try them all!
Maybelline Big Eyes mascara is one of their first high street mascaras to offer a mascara for your bottom lashes. Rather than take a gamble and sell it on it’s own, like the Clinique offering, they have included it as a 2 wands in one.
The brush for your normal eyelashes is standard Maybelline bristles. The brush for your bottom lashes is more of a curved, roller-like brush which I can’t imagine working that well on my normal lashes. I would have personally preferred the brushes to be removable, rather than the tubes of product, as it can be a little bulky and awkward to handle especially when you are trying to apply it.
The formula is quite wet and I did suffer with clumping and thin lashes on my top lashes. It was really hard to build up any sort of volume as my lashes just stuck together – as you can see above! I would have preferred a drier formula. The lower lash mascara was the same and you have to find a balance between being gentle and also being able to apply it and see a difference! My lower lashes are quite long and there were times I felt I looked quite strange. I think those with shorter lower lashes might like this more than I did.
Would I buy this again? Probably not. I’m not a fan of bristle brushes at the best of times and I hate wet formulas. I’m not getting on with the new Maybelline mascaras at the moment; I have found some of them to be quite disappointing compared to the older ones. Sadly, this is another mascara that has dented my love for Maybelline.
Have you tried the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara? What did you think?

I prefer a drier formula too. I get on well with 17 mascaras.

I tried their Superlash and was disappointed, I have heard good things about Dolled Up and Falsifye? though :) x
I have tried this mascara and I hate it! It was really hard to work with it and it always cumpled my lashes :(
It is really hit and miss :(
Ah wet formulas can be annoying! Hopefully it’ll be better when it’s dried out a little? x

I hope so :) I don’t like how weird my lower lashes look though! x
I hate really dry formulas but then don’t want it so wet my lashes stick together… It’s so hard to find the perfect mascara, I’m still looking!! xx
Benefit They’re Real is my favourite so far, it is such a pain to remove though! x
I always find Maybelline mascara formulas way to wet! I haven’t tried one of their mascaras I like yet!

I really liked their colossal volume one, the original! :) x
