Make Up Skills I Wish I Had

The youngsters of today have it so good.  They have somehow skipped the rite of passage into teenage years – the £1 eyeliner, Maybelline Dream Matte mousse foundation and using concealer as lipstick – and have gone straight to the flawless, contoured, Instagram-ready life we old timers can only dream of.   If only we had the big beauty community we have now, back then , I might be able to do some of the following…

Make Up Skills I Wish I Had - Famous in Japan

Being Able To… Contour / Highlight / Blusher

I am so jealous of those who can cheat their cheekbones, add sculpted definition and look as if they have just descended from the heavens with a glow that could stop traffic.   Those who can do all 3 together are witches.    My feeble attempts at all three together render me a pink, sparkly, orange mess .   #nofilter indeed.   I can just a bout manage highlighting and blusher on a good day, but contouring?  No.  Oh god no .  This isn’t something that bothers me too much, as the 10 minutes I would spend contouring is 10 minutes I can spend in bed instead.

Being Able To… Do Winged Eyeliner

I dream of the day I can do perfectly symmetrical winged eyeliner.  Damn my hooded eyelids, and damn my lack of hand/eye co-ordination!  It has taken me years to draw a simple straight line on my eyelids, and I have a feeling it will take me many more to finally be capable of a cute flick.  This is the skill I wish I had the most , and one I am actively trying to learn how to do at the moment.   Watch this space!

Being Able To… Do a Smoky Eye

Another eye make up related conundrum.  I just can’t do it.  I can’t blend to save my life.    I am considering paying a beauty counter such as Urban Decay for a make up lesson to finally get it right as they should (hopefully!) be trained in these kind of things, but then again… YouTube is free…    I just want to smoulder and look cool and alluring.   Is that too much to ask?!      Perhaps not in front of a building or a car that is on fire, but you get my point.

Being Able To… Do Anything To My Eyebrows

Who knew that eyebrows would end up being so important?  As I have grown up, I have seen the trend go from thin to thick, to round to arched.   The full and thick trend does not give consideration to the people who overplucked during the thin trend, and can no longer grow their eyebrows into #onfleek ones.   I am one of those people.    I didn’t know how bad my eyebrows looked until I was taking some pictures for my blog… *destroys evidence in fire*

What make up skills do you wish you had?
