LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub

Hello!   After trying ( and mostly eating ) the LUSH Bubblegum lip scrub , I was keen to try the other varieties to see how they compared.  I had enabled two of my IRL friends to try the Popcorn variety, so I thought that I had better try the Mint Julips offering… for blog purposes of course…

LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub

£5.50/25g – LUSH

They say:

A gentle lip scrub with more than a hint of mint humbug about it. Turn chapped lips into mint-choc chip lips: warming peppermint and sweet vanilla combine with real sugar crystals give your lips (and tastebuds) a service, leaving them primed for smooth lipstick application. As soon as you gently rub Mint Julips on your lips, you’ll feel its invigorating peppermint oil tingling away while the sugar crystals buff away any flaky skin.

Ingredients:

Caster SugarOrganic Jojoba OilVanilla ExtractTagetes OilPeppermint Oil*LimoneneFlavour

Vegan friendly.  Preservative free.

I say:

I have to admit that I didn’t trust myself with this lip scrub after the bubblegum one.  I didn’t want to paying £5 to basically sit and eat a pot of flavoured sugar.  However, that is not the case with this one – phew!

Mint Julips contains jojoba oil and peppermint oil; both of which soften, moisturise yet invigorate the lips.  I have to say, the peppermint oil adds a tasty “zing” to this scrub; I imagine this makes it perfect to use before smooching someone nice.   If I had to describe the taste, it is like scrubbing your lips with some After Eights – without all the calories, mess, and pesky black wrappers.

Mint Julips isn’t as crumbly as Bubblegum although little bits of it can get everywhere (it is sugar in a pot after all!).  Because Mint Julips is more solid, a little pot of this has been lasting me months, even with multiple use.  All I have to do it press my finger on to the top and use what sticks to exfoliate my lips – I do this twice if I’m feeling like I need to give my lips a good scrub.   The softening effect is temporary, but as I use this scrub to prep my lips for a heavy duty lip balm, it doesn’t bother me too much.

Even though it is a completely unnecessary and a frivolous purchase…  I will repurchase Mint Julips in the future.  Before that happens though, I’m going to have to try Popcorn, once again, for blog purposes…

Have you ever tried a LUSH lip scrub?  Which is your favourite?

I still haven’t succumbed to the Lush lip scrubs – I always go to them and then the price for the size of the pot scares me away! However I think I need to invest because my lips are already drying out and it’s not even winter!! xx

Oh nooo! They are good for smoothing the lips out, when you apply lip balm after it feels like it’s more effective :) x

  4. After Eights you say….they are my favourites (along with Terry’s Chocolate Orange). I may have to buy this again, I know they are so easy to make but I can be a bit lazy at times. Plus mine would never smell (or taste) as good.
