I probably shouldn’t be munching on snacks when I have another tooth growing out of my jaw*… but I just couldn’t resist the Kabaya Panda Almond Chocolate Balls any longer!

I received the Kabaya Panda Almond Chocolate Balls in the December Kawaii Box (which shows you just how bad my candy hoarding is…).   I had previously tried the Kabaya Saku Saku Panda Cookies and loved them, so I had no worries about trying these.  Seriously, I think about those cookies at least once a week…

The Kabaya Panda Almond Chocolate Balls boasts four layers of biscuit, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and finally an almond filling.  Who could resist a description like that?

I cannot get over how adorable and kawaii the packaging is.  *squeals*  Look at it!  I’m going to do my best to make it into “something” so I can keep it!  Any ideas?

I will admit to being disappointed when I opened up the packet and saw that I only had 8 balls in my tray (be quiet in the back!).  Seriously Kabaya, EIGHT?   Each biscuit is adorned with a different expression and I am told that there are over 99 different expressions and panda faces.   It would take me a long time to see ’em all with only eight being received per box…

To be brutally honest, I have mixed feelings about the Kabaya Panda Almond Chocolate Balls.   Whilst the two chocolate layers are enjoyable,  I think the biscuit layer really lets them down.  The biscuit is very basic in taste, terribly dry and very crumbly.   The almond filling in the chocolate is enjoyable, and it adds a hint of contrasting flavour,  but it’s nothing to call home about at the end of the day.   The chocolate layers are the most prominent part overall, which is a shame.    I think I would have enjoyed these a lot more if they were purely chocolate and almond.  I also think they could be smaller in size and there could be more provided in a packet.  Just saying…

Even though these were disappointing, I’m still glad I tried them just for the packaging alone.  I will make something out of it, I am sure of it!   I am very excited to try the double chocolate variety of the Panda Cookies I received in the November OyatsuBox.   Expect to see them up next on this here blog as I swear they are calling out to me… Begging me to eat them… and review them…. Honestly… *shifty eyes*
