Soap and Glory Scrub Actually

*To the tune of Jump from Love, Actually.*

Scrub! Scrub me good.  Scrubbing, inside my tub.  Scrub if you want to make your skin really soft, yeahhhh.   Scruuuuub, in the tub.

*casually waits for record deal*

Soap and Glory Scrub Actually

Soap and Glory Scrub, Actually – £7.00

They say:

The award winning Soap and Glory Scrub, Actually Body Scrub 200ml is an absolute smash of a body buffer, with smoothing brown sugar, white sugar and natural apricot kernel oil.

Ingredient Analysis:

PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate (emollient, surfectant), Sucrose (water-binding), Silica (abrasive, anticaking agent), Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil (skin conditioning), Parfum (fragrance), Phenoxyethanol (preservative), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E – skin conditioning), Aleurites Moluccana Seed Oil (skin conditioning), Isopropyl Myristate (lubricant, emollient), BHT (preservative), Benzophenone-4 (UV absorber), Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter (emollient), Hexyl Cinnamal (fragrance), Limonene (fragrance), Linalool (fragrance), CI 14700 (colourant), CI 17200  (colourant), CI 19140  (colourant)

I say:

I rarely stray away from S&G when it comes to bath products; what can I say I’m a creature of habit.  During one 3 for 2 binge (or 6 for 4 in my crazy beauty blogger brain!) I picked up a few bits, some new items and some repurchases.   I decided to give the Soap and Glory Scrub, Actually body scrub a go, mainly because the name reminds me of the film Love, Actually.

To be fair, this GIF is necessary to show you how I look in Boots; pacing the containing aisle up and downarms full of Soap and Glory products, frantically muttering “BUT I CAN GET 6 AND JUST PAY FOR 4 AND I MUST BUY THEM NOW AS IT WILL BE AGES UNTIL ANOTHER 3 FOR 2 DEAL!”

When it comes to scrubs, I want industrial strength.  I want liquid sandpaper.  You would think the Soap and Glory Scrub, Actually would be quite abrasive, but I find it quite mild, and a little underwhelming.

The texture and consistency of it reminds me of sugar that pools in the bottom of your tea… to be fair it is, considering this contains both brown and white sugar.  *mind blown*  The apricot kernel oil provides some … oiliness?  lubrication? slip?  so many words! This allows the scrub particles to disperse easily whilst coating the skin.  I did take a picture of the scrub but it just looks right weird…

Like I said above, I do find this quite mild on my skin and if I want to have a good scrub I have to apply some pressure.  I also find that it’s so easy to use a lot of this quite quickly, as the small grains of sugar “melt” away fast; within about 5 seconds of scrubbing for me personally.  During the first use I was a little enthusiastic until I realised I had nearly used half of the tube!

This isn’t a product I would repurchase sadly, but alas I do already have a favourite scrub from S&G!  If you are after a scrub you could use every day that won’t strip five layers of skin off, then maybe this is one for you.

Thanks for reading!

Ha, now I have that song in my head! Plus I’m glad I’m. It the only one who makes up songs like that…it’s TOTALLY NORMAL.

I too was a bit underwhelmed by scrub of your life, not as much as I was by the expensive but pants Laura a Mercier Almond Coconut one – full of bits but too damn oily and hard to use. You need to try Caudalie Divine Scrub. Oh yeahhh. It smells blooming amazing too. Expensive though…hmmm, I like the Sanctuary scrubs from boots, they smell abut like what I think mums smell like (er, probably cos my mum uses them), but they’re nice and scrubby, and leave you softer than a peach.

    Love this post!

      Thank you!

And I loveeee making songs up. My favourites so far are “baby let me scrub you down, there’s so many ways to buff ya” (from that Usher song) and “why do you build me up, build me up silicone baby just to weigh me down?” (build me up buttercup). I am honestly wasted in secretarial work I need to be penning puns and all sorts!

Ooh the thing with Sanctuary is that I don’t like the smell! After a while it makes me feel reyt queasy… xxx

Nice post. I also enjoy liquid sandpaper hehe. If I can’t feel it scratching away, it’s not working!
