Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel

Posted in Beauty

Hello!  I know that I usually post a lifestyle post on a Sunday but as my blog has been fairly lifestyle heavy these past few months, I was hoping you all wouldn’t mind the sneaky substitution!  Today’s post is about my thoughts on the Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel.

Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel - Famous in Japan

Soap and Glory Orangeasm Shower Gel

£6.50 – Boots

They say:

Our zesty-fresh and revitalising ORANGEASM™ Body Wash is scented with fresh green mandarin, Sicilian lemon and sweet orange peel oils. With skin softening, moisture boosting properties and our exclusive MSUDS™ technology, TRIPLE TEA™ antioxidant complex, GINSENG and PINKPEPPERBERRY™, there’s really nothing quite like it!

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, Brassica Campestris (Rapeseed) Seed Oil, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Lauroamphoacetate, Cocamide MEA, Citric Acid, Dipropylene Glycol, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Limonene, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Benzoate, Hydroxypropyl Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Tetrasodium EDTA, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Oil, Menthol, Panthenol, Benzophenone-3, BHT, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Linalool, Pogostemon Cablin Leaf Oil, Citral, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citrus Reticulata (Tangerine) Peel Oil, Schinus Terebinthifolius Seed Extract, Methylisothiazolinone, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Biter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract, Pantolactone, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower Oil, Cyclopia Intermedia (Honeybush) Leaf Extract, Gynostemma Pentaphyllum Extract, Phosphoric Acid, Denatonium Benzoate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, CI 15985 (Yellow 6), CI 15510 (Orange 4)

I say:

Having tried most, if not all, of the Soap and Glory shower gels, there was no way I was letting the new addition to the line go untested.  With a name like “Orangeasm”, I was expecting an explosion of citrus scents.  I was expecting to be metaphorically hit in the face by an orchard of oranges, mangoes, sugar… everything sweet!

Unfortunately, the scent of Orangeasm was not what I was expecting.  Soap and Glory claim the scent is “fresh green mandarin, Sicilian lemon and sweet orange peel oils”, and to my uncultured nose it’s a subtle orange scent with hints of lemon.  I feel it is the lemon toning down the sweetness of the mandarin and orange peel oils.   For me, it’s not the best scent in the world but it’s not the worst either.   I think it’s a scent that some people will love, and then there will be some people like me that won’t like it.  But hey, isn’t everything in life like that? #deep

However, all is not lost as in typical Soap and Glory fashion, this shower gel is a super soft formula that lathers up easily, and cleanses your body without leaving your skin feeling literally squeaky clean.   The combination of a pump dispenser and a whopping 500ml bottle means that this shower gel will last you a helluva long time.

I wouldn’t repurchase Orangeasm in the future as I prefer a more energetic scent.  I need to be woken up in the shower, whereas this shower gel leaves me feeling a little flat.  Not to fear though, as the Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Shower Gel is always waiting for me on the shelves of Boots…

Have you ever been disappointed by a product?

Your post echoes exactly what I’ve been thinking about this… I expected it to be as zesty and energising as Sugar Crush but it really isn’t. I wouldn’t re-purchase it xx

I bought a bottle of this at the end of last year, and I haven’t got around to trying it yet because I’ve been finishing things off I had for Christmas. I’m expecting a really strong orange scent, but it doesn’t sound like it will quite live up to that though.

I’ve been really careful with what I’m buying at the moment, due to pennies and doing lots of research before buying, so I’m struggling to think of the last product I was actually disappointed by. I think it might have been a Superdrug own-brand salt spray. My hair does not understand what to do with salt sprays at all and it did nothing other than make my hair feel a bit crunchy.

No it’s really not! :( I wanted a strong orange scent, but it just wasn’t there!
My hair is hit and miss with salt sprays. The only one that has ever worked is the bumble and bumble one but that is so expensive! x

I’ve still not tried this one but sounds like it won’t quite pack the punch I’d hope for! Ah well…
