Hello! The sudden change in weather has rendered my skin dry and uncomfortable. Rather than putting up with it, I turned to my rather large beauty hoard for a remedy. Into the stash I went, and out I came with the Pure Smile Apple Mango Yoghurt Essence Mask.

*I think these ingredients are correct – please correct me if I am wrong. They are from a Japanese website.
This mask was included in one of my many parcel swaps with Nicole. I have a lot of love for sheet masks; they’re a great way of relaxing for 20 minutes, and they tend to work well for my skin.
I’m going to be sneaky and copy and paste the sheet mask explanation from my previous review for those who are new around here. A sheet mask is a thin, cotton sheet soaked in liquid. They tend to be in moisturising or hydrating formulas, and many boast ingredients such as vitamins and minerals to improve the skin. This particular mask is for combination skin, and claims to hydrate and protect. My skin is beyond dehydrated at the moment, so I turned to this sheet mask to give me a much needed hydration boost.
When I opened up the mask, I was instantly hit by the strong apple scent. Whilst this put me in a good mood initially, it quickly faded when I went to put the mask on. The serum that the mask was soaked in was so thin it was practically water – it was literally dripping off the mask. It even dripped down my neck when I had the mask on.
A problem I tend to have with most sheet masks is that they are too big for my face. For some reason, this particular mask seemed to fit me without complaint even though the last Pure Smile face mask I tried was too big. Has my face got bigger? Do I need to step away from the Japanese candy? I shouldn’t be complaining really; it’s nice to use a sheet mask without the worry of it falling off my face and ruining my relaxation time.
I left the mask on for 20 minutes, and peeled it off as normal. I massaged the remaining essence into my face and I also rubbed the mask on to my hands and neck. Sadly, I didn’t notice a big improvement in my skin. Usually after sheet masks, my face feels refreshed and hydrated. I didn’t get that feeling with this mask. It was almost as if I hadn’t used the mask at all. The only difference in my skin I could see was to the spot I had on my monobrow; its redness and size were reduced.
I am disappointed that this face mask didn’t work that well for me. It’s fair to say this won’t be making an appearance on my shopping list. I think I have yet another sheet mask (or two) to try, and I shall let you all know how I get on. I am not holding my breath though. I’m beginning to lose faith in Pure Smile – y u no like my face?
What do you turn to when your skin is in need of hydration? I would love some recommendations!
