Neal's Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream

Like most people, the Neal’s Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream came into my possession as a free gift with a glossy magazine… or did I purchase the hand cream and the magazine came free?  Discuss.

Neal's Yard Remedies Bee Lovely Hand Cream

They say:

Care for your hands as you help save the bees with our original Bee Lovely Hand Cream. Moisturising organic honey is blended with energising orange essential oil to nourish the skin and lift the spirits.

I say:

At work, my hands suffer.  Cheap hand wash, paper dust, endless typing… they’re dry, tight and, at times, flaky.  I am very meticulous about always having a hand cream either on my desk or in my bag as, y’know, I like to be the person with the hand cream; the saviour of the office’s hands.   There came a point where I was sick to death of the Soap and Glory Hand Food.  Yes, it’s nice but after 6 months of continued use it does begin to grate on you.

I of course delved into my ~stash~ and out came this little gem.  I have tried Neal’s Yard Remedies before (again, it came as a free gift with a magazine!) and I love how committed they are to natural and organic products.  You will not find any mineral oils (boy oh boy do you bloggers hate mineral oils at the moment!), silicones, parabens, phthalates, DEA, BHT or synthetic fragrances.

As soon as you unscrew the lid from this hand cream, you are hit with the delicious smell of the orange essential oils.  I will admit that I expected this hand cream to smell like honey, but I find that the delicate orange scent is more uplifting and relaxing.  My friend Brittany commented that it reminded her of Portugal and the smell of fresh oranges being sold on the stalls.

Let’s look at the ingredients (my new favourite thing to do!):

Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) seed oil* (rich in the minerals zinc, phosphorus, iron, and potassium, as well Vitamins A, D, K and E.  Also contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids), Ricinus communis (Castor) seed oil* (skin conditioning), Cera alba (Beeswax)* (skin conditioning, emollient), Cocos nucifera (Coconut) oil* (skin conditioning, emollient), Theobroma cacao (Cocoa) seed butter* (softens the skin and protects it against environmental influences), Citrus sinensis (Orange) peel oil expressed* (fragrance), Calendula officinalis (Marigold) flower extract* (skin conditioning),Tocopherol, Citral, Eugenol, Farnesol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.      *Organically produced ingredient. Natural constituent of essential oils listed.

You can see from the ingredients that good ol’ Neal’s Yard stayed true to their word!  Perhaps it was nature that brought Neal to his Yard.. again, discuss.

As well as delivering on what a hand cream is supposed to do; nourish, soften and protect – a percentage of sales from this product goes towards charities and organisations to help save our bees.

Priced at £10, I find that it is worth every penny.  No nasty ingredients, plenty of good ingredients and a percentage of the profits go towards helping our black and yellow friends – this is something I see myself repurchasing.

Now to trawl the website for more products; I need some more Neal’s Yard Remedies in my life!

Heyy Dannie have you ever tried The Body Shop’s hand creams? Their Hemp hand protector is FAB but I don’t like the smell so I prefer to use their Almond one :) Again, all natural and cruelty-free yada yada :) xo

I got this as well but I wasn’t that keen on it. It was nice enough and I used it for a while but I thought it left my hands a little oily for a while after I’d applied it, which I’m not keen on. So I gave it a new home with my mum :)

All depends on what your hands need, mine get very dry so mine needs lots of moisture! Glad it’s got a new home with your mum :) xx
