Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

No, your eyes are not deceiving you.  I am finally bringing you my thoughts on a product I have been harping on about for far too long – the Garnier Micellar Water.

Garnier Micellar Water - Famous in Japan

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

£4.99 – Boots.com

They say:

A super efficient and gentle way to cleanse, remove makeup, soothe the feel of skin and hydrate in just one step – it’s not magic, it’s Garnier Micellar!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water contains micelles which act like magnets, gently lifting away makeup and impurities from the skin, without the need to rub or rinse. The result?  Beautifully cleansed and refreshed feeling skin in an instant. The formula is suitable for the face, eye area and lips, has no perfume and comes in a generous 400ml size.

Ingredients:

AQUA/WATER, HEXYLENE GLYCOL (solvent/viscosity agent), GLYCERIN (lubricant/humectant – balances the water levels in skin to facilitate moisture)DISODIUM COCOAMPHODIACETATE (enables water to mix with oil & dirt particles, and rinse them off the surface/ cleanses without stripping skin of its natural oils), DISODIUM EDTA (preservative/chelator/stabilizer), POLOXAMER 184 (surfactant/cleansing agent), POLYAMINOPROPYL BIGUANIDE (preservative).

I say:

I remember when the Garnier Micellar Water first hit the blogosphere as a potential dupe for Bioderma.    Initially, I dismissed it as nothing but hype; I’m pretty sure every micellar offering has been touted as a dupe, and in the end they do not even come close.

However, it might just be that we have a contender…

I really, really, really like this product.   I’m on my second bottle, and I can envisage many more.   I’ve been waiting and waiting, but as yet I have not suffered any reaction at all; no stinging, no burning nor any pesky breakouts.   There is no oily residue nor does it leave my skin feeling tight or stripped.   It looks like water, and it feels like water.  There isn’t a noticeable fragrance either; can I say it smells like water or is that too far?

The Garnier Micellar Water is perfect to use as the first step in your night time cleansing routine.  You can use it to initially remove the remnants of your make up from the day, ensuring your follow up cleanser works more effectively as it isn’t battling its way through a layer of grime.

I’m going to admit to being rather naughty, and using this micellar water in the morning if I don’t have time to use a proper cleanser.  This is usually when things begin to go wrong, but I am happy to report that my face is still intact.  In my opinion, it isn’t the best at removing tough, waterproof eye make up, but as I use a separate eye make up remover anyway this doesn’t bother me that much.

If that wasn’t reason enough to love this product, it comes in a huge 400ml bottle that boasts 200 uses.  With an RRP of £4.99 it is an absolute steal and is usually on offer somewhere.  It is available to buy pretty much everywhere, which is a huge plus for me as I am so lazy when it comes to ordering online.  (I prefer going into shops and buying it right there and then!)

I hate giving into blogger hype, but I have to hold my hands up and admit that this is a real gem.  The Garnier Micellar Water has a firm place in my skincare routine, and it will be a long time before I try something new.

Have you tried the Garnier Micellar Water?

I’ll have to give this a try, as I use Bioderma at the moment. It’s disappointing that it doesn’t remove eye makeup that well though, as cream eyeshadows which stay in place all day are my favourite and Bioderma can remove them all so easily! Great review :)

      Thank you!
You can’t really moan at the price though :) it is a lot cheaper than Bioderma! x
