Hello! Yet another make up review and also a Bourjois review – slightly intentional I must admit! Today I’m talkin’ ’bout the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream. Can you believe this is my first “base” product from Bourjois?

Once again, you bloggers got me. I saw review after review of the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream and I was taken aback by the before and afters. What ensued were multiple trips to Boots – swatching, applying (yep, being one of THOSE people) and umm-ing and ahh-ing. Eventually, an offer got me.
What immediately struck me was the difference in the formulation of this particular CC cream. I have tried both the La Roche-Posay CC Cream and the SEVENTEEN CC Cream – both moisture rich formulations. The Bourjois offering is more fluid; it feels soft and silky to apply.
Eep – I never know how bad the “before” pictures are until I look at them on a computer. And yes, I think I may be fated to have an orange moustache for the rest of my days… I’m starting to think the problem may be me…
How’s that for a before and after? If you look at the left side of my face, you can see that a blemish I had has been minimised, but not completely covered up. You can also see the areas of redness I have in my cheeks have also been covered nicely. I do agree with Bourjois’ claim that it gives a “fresh and luminous” result – do you? In terms of longevity, I feel the “dewiness” wears off after an hour or two. I usually set this with a powder which helps it to last about 6-8 hours in terms of coverage. I wouldn’t say this is particularly hydrating – certainly not 24 hour as claimed – but it doesn’t cling to dry patches and it sits on my skin well.
Whilst I do like this product, there are some things I have to raise.
The scent. It is noticeably perfumed and I can see perfume is quite high up on the ingredients list. I haven’t noticed a problem but do bear this in mind if your skin is easily irritated by this ingredient.
The SPF. The SPF in this is shocking – 15! What good is that to anyone? I wore this CC cream when I went to the Tour de France Grand Depart in Leeds and I was there from 7:30 – 11:30, having applied this at about 6:30. When I got home, I noticed I had suffered a little bit of sunburn, noticeable around the eyes and nose. It has healed now but do bear in mind that this SPF is not going to protect your skin all day long. In fact, will only protect you for a few hours or so before you have to cut the summer fun short and huddle back inside. I would recommend wearing a base product of SPF 30 with this product if you’re making plans!
Would I buy it again? It’s a maybe. I do like it. The effect is noticeable, it’s a light formulation and it doesn’t give me an orange moustache as noticeable as others. I personally need a product with a higher SPF, and if I were to buy this again I would need to make sure I paired it with a high SPF base.
Have you tried the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream? Did you like it, or loathe it?
